THE EXPERIENCE OF A SEASON

oCTOBER 20, 2024

Northampton, MA

The Happy Valley Half Marathon was created to bring you a breath-taking course, designed to showcase some of the most beautiful roads that New England has to offer, during peak Fall foliage. The Happy Valley experience only gets started at the finish line. Your achievement will be celebrated with breweries, food trucks and the enthusiastic support of the local running community. Speaking of community; this is an event that makes a positive impact year round as the Happy Valley Half Marathon & 5K has partnered with the Campaign for the Cooley Dickinson’s new Emergency Department to help make our community safer, happier and healthier.

The Happy Valley Half Marathon & 5K takes place during the peak of the fall season in beautiful Western MA. There is so much to do that we think you should come for the race and stay for the weekend! We have partnered with Newenglandchickadee to put together your itinerary for 48 hours in Western MA!

Please note that going forward there are no refunds, deferments and/or bib transfers. If the event cannot be held as planned due to COVID, inclement weather, or other unforeseen issues, you will be granted entry into a future race at no additional charge. We will honor any deferments that have already been requested. We will always honor our commitment to you, a quality race, and an experience you will remember.

Our Cause

Community is everything to Impact Racing Events. When it comes to caring for the community there is nothing more important than healthcare. This is why the Happy Valley Half Marathon is proud to support the Campaign for the Cooley Dickinson's new Emergency Department.

About the project:

Construction has begun and work is visible, with cranes raising steel beams and new, larger ambulance bays beginning to take shape.  The project will see the emergency department increase its size by 40%, with the addition of nine new patient rooms, four mental health care beds, a family waiting area, and an in-unit CT scanning machine for more timely access to diagnostic imaging. Now, more than ever, philanthropic support is critically important to our ability to deliver the high-quality healthcare you, your loved ones, your neighbors, and our community. You will be supporting the Campaign for the Cooley Dickinson's new Emergency Department:

The Emergency Department at Cooley Dickinson Hospital: Transforming Emergency Care: Campaign for the Cooley Dickinson Emergency Department

Cooley Dickinson's Emergency Department is 40% undersized to meet the community's needs and cares for many patients who require critical medical attention. The number of patients visiting the department has grown from 17,000 annually in the 1970s to nearly 34,000 in recent years. For those patients, Emergency Department teams treat approximately 300 traumatic injuries per year; last year alone over 6,000 patients needed to be admitted for further care.

The current Emergency Department was not designed to face the challenges of the 21st century; it does not have the space to care for this many patients or to provide the specialized care our community needs. With your support, Cooley Dickinson Hospital can design a new, future-oriented ED that centers on caring for you, your loved ones, and our community. The Emergency Department remains open during construction and every dollars raised goes directly to the project that is scheduled to be completed in 2025. .
