THE EXPERIENCE OF A SEASON

October 17, 2021

Northampton, MA

We choose to live, to work, to train in Western Massachusetts, a mere speck on the map, because in many respects we appreciate and admire the beauty. The landscape embodies freedom...from the snow covered mountains to the incredible sunsets and sunrises and the impeccable scenery. The people culminate diversity...from the colored flags flying high through streets lined with boutique shops and ethnic restaurants, to the farmers cultivating vast and ever-bearing fields passed through generations of hard-working kin. We all are fortunate to call this incredibly giving place home. We walk and run the trails in admiration. We live with this cohesion and harmony that is truly second to none. And quite often, we gather to celebrate all that surrounds us, all that embodies each and every one of us in this "happy" valley. So, once more, we ask you to join us in celebrating what makes this community, this place, one of the most amazing representations of happiness and freedom this World can offer.

The Happy Valley Half Marathon was created by two people who are passionate about running, getting active, and living life to the fullest. Justin Killeen, owner of 50/50 Fitness/Nutrition in Hadley, MA., has teamed up with Western Mass native and certified running coach, Grant Ritter, to bring you a breath-taking course, designed to showcase some of the most beautiful roads that New England has to offer, during peak Fall foliage. This PR inducing course, the events to follow, and the passion that we exhibit will exhilarate runners and walkers alike...from first timers to seasoned pros. We are pulling out all of the stops to make this run, your run, year after year. Once again, the Happy Valley Half Marathon & 5K has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County.

Voted Third Best Road Race in 2016, 2017 and 2018 by the Valley Advocate Readers' Poll
